Wisdom is in a Feeling

In my Body Acceptance and Beyond Coaching Group today we talked a lot about connecting to our Inner Wisdom.

The biggest difference between knowing whether direction is coming from your conditioned mind or your Inner Wisdom is in the feeling.

We are born with an innate guidance system. Everyone has one, and we never lose connection with it. In fact it’s always directing us. It’s just that the mind tends to override the messages we receive through doubt, worry, fear etc.

But here’s how you know whether Inner Wisdom is speaking to you: you feel better.

Sydney Banks, a man who when he was alive shared a lot of deep wisdom and understanding said that wisdom is felt in a positive feeling.

The feeling doesn’t have to be intense like excitement or happiness (though it can be). Rather wisdom tends to be more subtle. The quality of wisdom can feel something like openness, ease, clarity, assuredness, logic (it just “makes sense”), peace, or even neutrality.

But what usually happens is we get this hit of wisdom and then the mind rushes in to override it - usually with doubt, fear, anxiety, worry etc.

So following Inner Wisdom can take trust. It can feel like a leap of faith at times. But the good news is we were born following our wisdom.

It’s the most natural thing for us.

Inner Wisdom is our innate guidance system that is uniquely designed for each of us. It doesn’t always mean it makes for an “easy” life, but it makes for a fulfilling life, and I believe that’s what we deeply yearn for.

If you want to put your Inner Wisdom into practice but feel a bit unsure of “how”, then working together 1:1 could be of great support to you. This doesn’t have to be just around body acceptance, it can be in any area of your life. You can connect with me about 1:1 coaching here.
